UEFA Europa League: RB Leipzig vs. Glasgow Rangers Preview, Odds, Prediction

RB Leipzig and Glasgow Rangers meet in the semifinals of the Europa League. They promise one very good battle, as both sides play tough and aggressive football and, above all, seem to be in excellent shape right now. The Bulls did lose this weekend, but that was after almost two and a half months, while Rangers caught the rhythm in the last two weeks. The first game takes place in Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena. Though, several thousand Rangers fans have already booked their seats at this magnificent stadium, so we expect to see the guests with one hell of support.

RB Leipzig (-280) lost this weekend after 17 consecutive games. Union Berlin was better than the Bulls, 1-2, flipping the result in the final four minutes of the event and putting an end to RB’s fantastic streak.

Just three days before this event, RB was better than the same rivals, only that event was in the DFB Pokal semifinals. The hosts reached the finals following a 2-1 victory, only in this one, they were the ones who managed to come back from behind.

This was the first defeat for Leipzig at home after dozen matches, but we do need to say that RB has certain problems once playing at Red Bull Arena against the teams who are defending. That’s why this unit had four draws during that stretch.

Glasgow Rangers (+750) have four wins in a row and are done with the crisis experienced throughout March. They have seven wins and three defeats in the last ten games, and in general, look OK.

The Gers eliminated Braga in the previous round, erasing a 1-0 deficit from the first game, and beating the Portuguese side 3-1 at Ibrox. Three days following that victory, the Rangers won the Scottish Cup, beating Celtic in the finals after extra times, 2-1.

The defense is a bit problematic for this unit, as they managed to keep clean sheets only once in the previous eight games. For the moment, the forwards are covering up all the errors in the back line, but in order to beat RB, defenders will have to improve.

Mohamed Sikman is suspended for this event, and he won’t play, while Lukas Klostermann and Amadou Haidara suffered injuries and are out.

On the other side, the Gers have lots of problems. Aaron Ramsey is out, Kemar Roofe, Filip Helander, Nnamfi Ofoborh and Ianis Hagi also. The biggest possible blow is the injury of their striker, Alfredo Morelos.

The Scottish team will be cautious and conservative, that is for sure. They are usually like that on the road and don’t want to risk anything. Meanwhile, we already said that the Bulls have problems breaking the rivals who are defending at Red Bull Arena, and that is why we suggest betting on low efficiency in this case, under 2.5 goals.
