Bundesliga: Borussia Dortmund vs. RB Leipzig Preview, Odds, Prediction

The opener of Bundesliga’s round 23 takes place in Dortmund, where Borussia hosts RB Leipzig at the Signal Iduna Park. These two units have always played exciting matches, and we hope to see another such clash next Friday night. Borussia is at the top of the standings, playing incredibly well since the start of the second part of the season. RB also plays solid football and has a bit weaker results than Borussia, but is awfully close to first place in Bundesliga and aims to take the title in this exhilarating and dramatic title race.

Borussia Dortmund (+120) won all the games after the World Cup conclusion. Seven were in the Bundesliga, one each in DFB Pokal and the UEFA Champions League. Edin Terzic and the crew have been more than confident lately, which is why Dortmund looks superb. 

What is Terzic’s most significant achievement since taking over the team is a very strong and powerful defense, which is at a much higher level than in the past. In three of the previous four, we’ve seen Kobel protecting its net, conceding just once, against Hertha Berlin in a 4-1 triumph. 

In four clashes at Signal Iduna after the New Year, Borussia scored 14 goals, allowing five and delivering at least four hits in three meetings. 

RB Leipzig (+200) lost to Union Berlin two weeks ago, 1-2, at home, and at that point, it seemed that the Bulls had suffered an irreparable morale hit. They were up 1-0 against one of the teams chasing the title and collapsed in the second half. 

Though wins over Wolfsburg and RB Leipzig and a draw against Manchester City in the Champions League brought back faith in Leipzig. A big boost will also be Nkunku’s comeback because the French striker already began practicing with the team. 

RB has two wins on the road and a draw after the World Cup, beating Schalke 1-6, playing 0-0 against Koln and 0-3 against Wolfsburg.

RB has three victories in a row over Borussia, winning the first game this season and both during the previous year. They were better than the Millionaires, 3-0, a few months back at the Red Bull Arena. 

Last year, RB was confident in Dortmund inflicting a hard 1-4 loss to the hosts. Prior to that one, the Bulls were better in Leipzig, 2-1. 

Prediction

We are after goals here because this is the perfect meeting to see high efficiency. Both teams play more or less aggressive football, emphasizing the offense, despite frequently recording clean sheets. Also, the tradition in direct encounters forces us to think this way. Our suggestion here would be for both teams to score and over 2.5 goals, with the odds set at -110, which is an outstanding value.
