Liverpool hosts Everton in the 240th Merseyside Derby. This one will have high stakes because both sides need three points – Liverpool to stay in the race for the EPL title, while on the other side, Everton to stay in the league. The Reds are in excellent shape, which can’t be told for the guests from Goodison. They only recently showed some signs of life, and have to be much better in order to stay above the relegation line. The last time these two met at Anfield, Everton was victorious, and the fans question themselves now – is it possible to see a sensation again?

Liverpool (-800) sits four points behind Man City, but they are yet to play their game. The difference between the two latest EPL champions before the round started was one point, which promises an exciting battle until the end of the season.

The Reds are in very good shape, and are without a loss in the previous nine games, winning seven and posting two draws. Jurgen Klopp’s unit showed its power last Tuesday, once they rolled over Manchester United, 4-0. Prior to that event, Liverpool defeated Manchester City in the FA Cup semis at Wembley, 3-2.

Their previous five games all saw at least four goals, and all but one were with hits on both ends of the field. Each of those events was bombastic.

Everton (+1400) is without a loss in back-to-back games, beating Manchester United 1-0 and after that playing 1-1 against Everton. Both of these events were at Goodison, and the home crowd has helped a lot to its favorites.

The Toffees expected to fight for the upper part of the table before the season began, yet they find themselves in a very tough position now. Lampard’s boys are first above the relegation zone, with one point more than Burnley and with a game in hand as well.

Yet they are terrible on the road, with seven consecutive losses, in all of them conceding at least two or more goals, and in three not being able to score themselves.

On the other side, Lampard has a hospital in his locker room. Calvert-Lewin is out, Davies, Patterson and Townsend, while Gomes and Van de Beek remain questionable.

The season’s first meeting ended 1-4 in Liverpool’s favor. The Reds massacred the rivals at their stadium, which was revenge for the loss at Anfield, in the game that preceded that one. Everton was better than L’pool, 0-2 in their second 2020/21 campaign meeting.

We don’t need to say anything regarding the difference in quality here. The Reds are at least two levels better team, and they will show that tomorrow. Our pick would be Liverpool to win and cover a 1.5-goal spread, and the odds on that are -195, which is excellent in our opinion. For those who are brave, go with Liverpool scoring two goals in the opening half.
